FLOCK THIS WAY
A Supperclub Fundraiser for The Dodo

Friday, July 8th
9PM-3AM
@ Supperclub

$10 all night with password: "FLOCK YOU!"

From the ‘Book of Bu-Dohdso’

“…and so flocked the malignant hordes of saber-beaked birds who upon learning of their pending extinction grew berserk of mind and fleet of gnarled foot. It was futile, humanity realized, to feign hope of survival in the face of such impending doom. The dodos had risen, and they would exact their revenge.”

Esteemed friends of the Dodo,

Please join us for another historic evening of posterior-pulsing eletronic ass-freakout madness at Supperclub, where your donation will help us pilot our Mighty Bird back to her home, Black Rock City, where the fine denizens of the playa eagerly await her return.

Our line-up, once again, is fierce. This is not your grandfather’s disco party. This is a rocking assemblage of dance gurus from a wide circle of Dodo-loving tribes, including Swag, RBC, DBM, FCRC, Space Cowboys, Strategik, Monticello, resident Dodos, and the great J-miah, not mention superior visual brian-melting eye candy by Pixelpusher!

And then, of course, there is Supperclub. What greater venue in the city could there be to don your finest, sexiest evening attire and sweat vodka through your pores?

Please help us spread the word by going to our Facebook page, RSVP’ing now and sharing this event with your friends. We most certainly won’t be able to do this without you!

Flame Effects for the Artist-July 9th and 10th. San Francisco CA

Closing a cross country mission to spread the fire we return to the Bay Area for the fourth and final Flame Effects for the Artist class of 2011.
Attention all artists who wish to incorporate fire aspects into their art! This class is for you…

Flaming Lotus Girls and The Box Shop team up to present this great 2-day workshop in flame effects in the San Francisco Bay Area.

The workshop will be teaching basic practices and principles for incorporating fuel based flame effects into your work. This class is great for the beginning fire artist and always has something new for the “expert”. Each one of these classes has drawn participants who have had all levels of experience. This has made for some great questions and projects that have been both fun and challenging.

The first day will consist of a classroom session where we will discuss subjects including:
NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) guidelines including NFPA 54 and 58 the LP gas codes.
NFPA 160 Flame Effects Before a Live Audience and other codes.
We will also examine the physical properties of LP gasses and get some hands on time with fittings and parts. Of course, we closely examine the wonders of LP gas with the amazing clear propane cylinder. We will then finish off by taking a look at some typical designs for Flame Effects including accumulators, free burning effects, fuel mortars, pilot lights, hot surface igniters and much more. We will have plenty of demonstrations and hands on materials.
The second day will be a shop day where we will put what we have learned into action and create a one of a kind flame effect from the materials on hand. The best part of the class is the assembly of the effect so please let us know if you have materials or elements you may like to see incorporated. This class will be fun for the artist who is thinking of incorporating a small flame element into their work, as well as the more experienced fire artist wanting to take their work to the next level.
Leading this weekend will be Dave X, Fire Safety Manager for Burning Man for more than 10 years, and Eric Smith, Chief Inspector for the State of Nevada Board for the Regulation of LP Gas. We will also have displays of fire art from several local fire artists!

The cost of this 2-Day class will be $120.
Both days’ classes will be from 10am – 5pm.
Printed materials and a crappy, but filling lunch of whatever cheap food we can get will be provided each day.

Come and join us for this weekend to hang out with other fire artists and have a blast, no pun intended. We have room for 40 and will be taking walk up registration the day of the event, space permitting. Email your name to Fuelmaster@gmail.com to register.

Playatech CORE Hosting Workshop 7/24 11AM-3PM

Call for pARTicipation!!! RSVP Required

Ever wondered how to build that funky plywood furniture you see everywhere in Black Rock City? Want to pARTicipate in the CORE project, destined to become the largest globally-ignited burn in history? Come do BOTH on July 24, 11AM-3PM at SPACE, 354 5th Street in SF! This is a "get your hands dirty and learn how to make stuff" woodworking workshop - with a mission of seating the world at BRC!

The Circle of Regional Effigies (CORE) project will consist of 22 regional effigies surrounding the Man, with a chill space and fire cauldron in each quadrant of the circle. Playatech is organizing furniture for these gathering spaces, and we'd like to give San Francisco burners a chance to host the CORE by making its seating! Newbies welcome; you will learn to saw, route, and sand plywood for making furniture and other playa structures.

Your efforts will provide pre-event rest space areas for 22 regional build teams and everyone else assembling the Man Base at the center of our universe. These spaces will evolve into fiery night time gathering places for our entire City. At the end of the event, this furniture will transform far beyond anything furniture has ever done before and then go poof - but you've got to build some to be in on that story...

SPACE is at 354 5th Street 94107, between Folsom & Harrison; there should be ample street parking. Space is limited to 20 participants - please RSVP to Sunshine@Playatech.com as soon as possible; walk-ins will be admitted as space permits. Every attendee must bring eye protection and gloves. Those with routers, radial saws, belt sanders, sabre saws, and large clamps are especially appreciated - please get in touch!!! Wood will be provided. BYOB for a little toast when we finish.
